Watermarking is to embed "hidden information" into image, video and audio that cannot be noticeable by human visual and auditory system.
Watermark technology is being employed in various applications:
(1) copyright authentication: embeds copyright holder¡¯s information into digital contents and then demonstrates that copyright of the content belongs to claimed owner by properly extracting hidden information
(2) tracing illegal copy and distribution: embeds purchaser¡¯s information into digital content as fingerprints and then identifies illegal distributors by extracting purchaser¡¯s information
(3) the other applications are monitoring broadcast radio and TV commercial, copy control in content players, and etc.
